23-year-old Olivia Burton moves to California with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Francis Morales, against the wishes of their family members. Francis’s mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and expresses her feelings in the form of violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life together. However, their happiness is cut short when Francis is physically and mentally injured in an unexpected accident.
